heta baza.
Heta Baza – a youth educational initiative from Belarus that began its activities in December 2022. Our goal is to develop and implement projects and educational campaigns on important topics that matter to the Belarusian society.
Our mission is to educate Belarusian youth both within Belarus and abroad. We aim to promote a culture of democracy and peace, activism and social engagement, as well as solidarity and mutual assistance through educational activities.
Our vision is to create and cultivate a society that values the principles of democracy, civic activism, and a culture of solidarity.
We believe that educational activities are a fundamental tool for achieving a just and democratic society.
The goal of our organization is to popularize basic knowledge on selected topics, such as human rights, ecology, and others, depending on the current situation in Belarus, the Belarusian diaspora, and the geopolitical context. We aim to spread information and raise awareness on these important issues in order to foster informed and engaged citizens.
Our team consists of graduates from the Belarusian Human Rights School, activists, volunteers, and human rights specialists.
OUR SCOPE
Human Rights
We are developing an educational online course, a series of informative and educational videos, and social media channels. Additionally, we organize online lecture courses. In this way, we promote knowledge on the topic of human rights among Belarusian youth and enhance their understanding of key concepts in this field. We aim to contribute to the development of an active civic position.
Inclusivity and Gender Equality
At the core of our mission lies inclusivity and gender equality. We empower training sessions aimed at raising awareness about gender issues and overcoming stereotypes. Our ultimate goal is to foster a just and harmonious society where every individual, regardless of their gender, has a multitude of possibilities.
Ecology
We are engaged in developing a program on eco-education. Our mission goes beyond knowledge dissemination, as we strive to unite local communities in activities focused on nature conservation, promoting an eco-friendly lifestyle, reducing emissions, implementing proper waste management practices, and fostering social ecology.
National History
In the face of current challenges, both domestic and abroad, we strive to shape a positive cultural agenda for Belarus. We reject false narratives and historical myths maintained by propaganda. This is project about Decolonization, highlighting Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA)
CORE PRINCIPLES
Belarus First and Foremost!
Our primary focus is on Belarus. We dedicate our efforts to addressing the challenges faced by Belarusian society. We actively seek partnerships with fellow Belarusian organizations, initiatives, and platforms. We firmly believe that every Belarusian individual can reach their full potential within a dignified national environment.
Belarus and International Cooperation
We believe in the power of collaboration and connections beyond borders. While our main focus remains on Belarus, we also value partnerships with international organizations, initiatives, and networks. By joining forces and sharing knowledge, we aim to broaden our horizons, strengthen our expertise, and contribute to the global educational community.
Language Policy
Our initiative upholds the traditional Belarusian orthography, honoring its historical roots and cultural significance. We stand against the language “reform” imposed in 1933, considering it an unnatural deviation from our linguistic heritage. This reform, driven by external forces during a period of Soviet occupation and political repressions, made the Belarusian language closer to Russian.
Understanding the historical and cultural value of the Belarusian "Łatinka" script and the renewed pressure against it, we cannot overlook the issue of Belarusian spelling. All pages of our website will be duplicated in Łacinka, along with additional materials and long reads.
Non-Discrimination and Responsiveness
We reject any discriminatory practices or statements towards individuals or groups. Our commitment is to eradicate all forms of discrimination in society.
Decision-Making
Our team operates on the principle of horizontal decision-making and internal democracy, where every team member has the right to express their opinions and contribute to the decision-making process. This allows us to gather diverse perspectives, experiences, and knowledge from all participants. We believe that collective wisdom and collaboration lead to stronger and more effective decision-making outcomes.
Transparency
In our work, we strive for maximum openness and transparency to the public. We advocate for transparency in our tasks, structure, and activities while ensuring the safety of our team and subscribers in the face of political repression.
We regularly provide updates on our activities to build trust with our partners, the community, and sponsors.
By upholding the principles of Belarusian human rights defenders, we aim to maintain integrity and accountability in all aspects of our work.
